Seafair Torchlight 8k

Very pleased with the results of this 8k. Its been quite some time since Ive competed in the 8k. Overall it was a hot day here in Seattle but the course was extremely fun! The course takes you downtown Seattle along the Torchlight Parade route. It was a pretty great feeling having all the parade spectators cheering you along :) The first mile I wasn't too far back from a pack of Club Northwest guys. It kind of helped having them ahead, I used that to push and try and catch up to them. I went through the first mile in 5:13. The second mile I was continuing to hang on with a 5:19. Then the course got pretty tough when it turned onto the Alaskan Viaduct, it was a long gradual uphill battle in the open sun. Boy was it hot on that road! And I was struggling on this section. The views were incredible though looking over the Seattle water front. From there it was a nice gradual downhill off the Alaskan Viaduct looping back over to the finish line at Seattle Center. I was really trying to push this last mile. Overall Im really happy with my performance and effort.

6th Place Overall
